My Approach
Through our work, we will focus on developing coping strategies that feel authentic and meaningful to you. I strive to offer encouragement, insight, and gentle challenge when appropriate, while serving as an unbiased sounding board in a safe and supportive environment. Everyone deserves someone in their corner—someone to listen, help make sense of difficult moments, and walk alongside them through growth and change. I would be honored to do this work with you.
My approach to therapy is collaborative, grounded, and tailored to the individual in front of me. I draw from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) skills to support both developing insight and practical change. These approaches help us better understand the connection between thoughts, emotions, and behaviors, build emotional flexibility, and develop skills for managing distress and improving relationships. Alongside evidence-based methods, I maintain a strengths-based approach, focusing on existing resilience and resources as a foundation for growth and meaningful change.
At the same time, I recognize that therapy is not one-size-fits-all. Some sessions may focus on skill-building and coping strategies, while others may center on reflection, processing, or exploring long-standing patterns and experiences. I aim to stay flexible so our work together reflects what is most helpful to you in the moment.
I also believe it is essential to understand each person within the context of their lived experience. My work is informed by a trauma-aware and relational lens, with attention to how life experiences, identity, and environment shape current challenges. I aim to see each client as a whole person, not defined by symptoms or diagnoses.
Therapy is a collaborative process. You are the expert on your own life, and my role is to support insight, offer tools, and work alongside you toward meaningful and sustainable change.
What to Expect
Entering the therapeutic space can feel both challenging and anxiety-provoking, while also holding the possibility of relief, growth, and renewal. I recognize the courage it takes to attend a first session, and I want to honor the step you are taking in seeking support.
Our initial meeting is, in many ways, a first introduction between two people getting to know one another. Because of this, I view the first session as an important opportunity to begin building rapport and establishing a foundation of trust, safety, and collaboration. My priority is to create a welcoming, nonjudgmental environment where you can show up as you are.
During this session, my role is primarily to listen and to learn. I will take time to hear your story and understand what has brought you to therapy at this point in your life. We will explore your current challenges, relevant personal history, and the goals or hopes you have for therapy. There is no expectation to share everything at once—we will move at a pace that feels comfortable for you.
Following this initial intake and evaluation, we will collaboratively discuss a treatment plan that includes session frequency and structure. Rather than a fixed approach, I view therapy as an evolving process. We will regularly reassess progress, functioning, and changing needs over time to ensure that our work continues to reflect what is most helpful and relevant for you.
I will also offer structure and guidance as needed, helping to clarify what you are looking for from therapy and answering any questions you may have about the process. Therapy is a collaborative experience, and the first session is the beginning of developing a shared understanding of how we can work together in a way that best supports you.
Above all, my hope is that you leave the first session feeling heard, supported, and grounded in the knowledge that you do not have to navigate life’s challenges alone. This is the beginning of creating a space where reflection, growth, and meaningful change can unfold—together.
